Cesc Fabregas would be the perfect signing for Manchester United, that's according to former Old Trafford legend Bryan Robson.
The Barcelona midfielder is at the top of new boss David Moyes' hit list, having registered an official 25m bid on Monday.
And the former Arsenal hero has reportedly told friends that he is open to a move to last season's Premier League champions.
But you can be sure that the Gunners, who have a first option buy-back clause, will also be monitoring how events now unfold with a keen eye.
Reports in Barcelona, however, are adamant Fabregas is going nowhere, insisting it would take a bid upwards of 40m for the Catalan giants to even consider letting the 26-year-old depart the Camp Nou.
Moyes is determined to recruit some midfield quality during this window and Robson, who now works as a club ambassador for the Red Devils, believes Fabregas is tailor-made.
He said: "You have to look at the balance of the midfield and what Michael Carrick gives you, what Tom Cleverley and Anderson gives you and for me Fabregas would be really good for United.
"He is a great footballer. He is entertaining to watch and creates and scores goals. He has come through the ranks in his time in England with Arsenal so settling in wouldn't be a problem."
