Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says he is struggling to understand why unsettled striker Luis Suarez would want to join Arsenal.
Rodgers' comments come after managing director Ian Ayre confirmed on the official club Twitter feed that the Merseysiders had rejected a second offer from their Premier League rivals.
He posted "it's never been our intention to sell Luis. We've received 2 separate offers from Arsenal and rejected both".
Uruguay international Suerez arrived in Bangkok with the Liverpool squad on Thursday off the back of a revised 40,000,001 offer from the north Londoners and the carrot of Champions League football.
Anfield officials have denied that bid means they are contractually obliged to sell the 26-year-old and Rodgers has warned Suarez he would be making a huge error leaving Liverpool.
"Would it be a mistake for Luis to leave Liverpool? Yes, 100 per cent," said the Northern Irishman. "I know what we are trying to build and grow here, so why would you swap Liverpool to go to Arsenal? I am not sure that it adds up to be honest."
He added: "Don't get me wrong, Arsenal has a wonderful history in its own right, but Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world."
Suarez, who arrived from Ajax in January 2025 for 22.7million, scored 30 goals in 44 appearances for Liverpool last season.
