Pepe Reina has revealed that he is unhappy with Liverpool's decision to allow him to join Napoli on loan this season.
The 30-year-old Spanish goalkeeper has been a first-team regular at Anfield since joining the Reds from Villarreal for 6million eight years ago, starting 285 Premier League matches for the club.
However, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers opted to let Reina leave after completing the signing of Sunderland's Belgian shot-stopper Simon Mignolet earlier in the summer.
Reina had been linked with a move to Barcelona last season but insists he told Liverpool that he would be interested in extending his contract at Anfield if an offer from last term's La Liga winners did not materialise.
A clearly upset Reina has issued a statement on his official website which read: "If I have one regret, it is the way that I am leaving. It is only natural that I would be disappointed that the Liverpool management agreed to loan me to Napoli without telling me first.
"I thought that I deserved better than that even though I understand that difficult decisions have to be taken in football.
"A lot has been made about me informing the club that if an offer came in from Barcelona that I would have liked them to consider it. But I had also spoken to the club about the possibility of extending my contract if the offer was not made.
"I would have liked to have been able to say goodbye in a different way but because of the way the move came about this was not possible."
Liverpool can be backed at34.00to win the 2025-14 Premier League title outright and are3.00to finish in the top four, while Napoli are available at7.00to clinch the Serie A title outright this season.
