Leonardo Januaryer is expecting a tough second round encounter when he comes up against defending champion Andy Murray at the US Open on Friday.
The Argentinan currently has a world ranking of 81 and lost his only previous encounter with Murray in Valencia four years ago.
Mayer admitted: "It's going to be very tough. He's one of the best players in the world. We'll see how the match goes.
"Everything in his game is very good. He has a very good serve and a very good backhand. However, my serve is good and I hit the ball hard."
Meanwhile, Murray is refusing to take his place in the last 32 at Flushing Meadows for granted, saying: "He's a very talented player. He's got big sort of long, looping strokes. I think he plays his best tennis on the hard courts.
"I played him once before in Valencia. He's a good player. I think he's had quite a few injuries the last couple of years and that's why he hasn't got much higher in the rankings. But he's very tough."
Murray is1.25to win the match in straight sets and is available at4.50to secure the US Open crown for a second successive year.
Meanwhile, Laura Robson comes up against Li Na in a repeat of their meeting in New York 12 months ago which the British number one won.
Robson is available at4.50to repeat that feat while the Chinese player is1.14to progress to the fourth round.
"I remember being so nervous when I walked on court," Robson said of last year's match. "I was just fighting through that and sticking with her.
"I think she made a lot of mistakes in the first set, which helped quite a lot. Hopefully she'll do that again."
