West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce is uncertain as to when striker Andy Carroll will return to action, after confirming a fresh injury setback.
The 24-year-old England international has yet to feature for the Hammers since sealing a permanent move to the Boleyn Ground in the summer and Carroll will have to wait a little longer after suffering another foot problem.
Allardyce told his club's official website: "It's the same type of injury but in a different area.
"It is not an Achilles injury, as has been suggested, but instead it involves the band of tissue which runs under the foot.
"We had been very cautious, very patient with him along the way and it's sad this has happened for him as well as us.
"He doesn't need an operation, but we need to give the foot time to re-heal, continue the rehab and get him back in training again."
In Carroll's absence the Irons have won one, drawn one and lost one in the Premier League this season and they head to the South Coast to take on Southampton on Sunday.
