Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey will not allow his love of Liverpool to get in the way of helping to inflict a first defeat of the season on the Reds on Monday night.
A few eyebrows were raised by Kopites this summer when boss Brendan Rodgers decided to let the midfielder join the Swans for 5million.
Shelvey came through the ranks at Anfield and was tipped for big things when he first made the first-team breakthrough.
But the 21-year-old was realistic enough to accept his time was up on Merseyside and that he could thrive under the guidance of Swans boss Michael Laudrup.
The Welsh outfit will be hoping they can bring the Reds' 100 per cent start to the season to an end, and deliver a bloodied nose to former boss Rodgers in the process. Swansea are3.60to win Monday's match.
Liverpool are yet to concede a goal this season, having won each of their opening three games by a 1-0 scoreline, and are available at7.00to beat Swansea 1-0 as well.
The home fans need not worry about any divided loyalties out on the pitch as Shelvey insists: "People have told me it's important not to get too emotional. They said I should try to treat it as any other game. That's what I aim to do."
