Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton enjoyed a superb start at Yeongam as he topped the timesheets in both first and second practice for Sunday's Korean Grand Prix.
Hamilton edged out Red Bull ace Sebastian Vettel in both sessions, with his Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg fourth in the morning and third in the afternoon.
Kimi Raikkonen, who has been troubled by a bad back, suffered a crash towards the end of the first session, but was back out on track for session two, although he could only manage eighth place in his Lotus.
Hamilton was delighted with his performance on the opening day at Yeongam, saying: "It's been a good day. I'm really happy with the way everything has gone.
"We've got some improvements to make set-up wise, but we look competitive like we were in the last race.
"I definitely feel like I have a better foundation this weekend. I can't remember when I had such a strong Friday."
Hamilton is2.75to be the fastest qualifier on Saturday and is4.50to win the race the following day, with Vettel1.61 to make it a hat-trick of victories in Korea.
