England international James Milner is hoping the Manchester City defence can become more Scrooge-like over the Christmas period.
The midfielder became the first Englishman to score for Manuel Pellegrini's team this season when they beat Fulham 4-2 at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
That result also means City have now scored 81 goals this season - 51 in the Premier League - and are on course to break all manner of records on that front if things continue in the same fashion.
Milner, however, although enjoying the attacking prowess, also feels the Citizens need to start keeping goals out at the other end to reinforce their title challenge.
City, who are now just one point behind current leaders, Liverpool, face Brendan Rodgers's side at the Etihad on Boxing Day.
Milner said: "You can't get anywhere without scoring goals, but as a side that's looking to improve, we can improve at the other end as a team.
"Hopefully we can get a few more clean sheets which will be more important as the season goes on. At the moment we are scoring enough to win games. We need to work on the mistakes."
