Brendan Rodgers is adamant that his Liverpool side can still have a say in the Premier League title race even after suffering back-to-back defeats.
The Reds followed up their Boxing Day defeat at Manchester City with another 2-1 loss on Sunday, this time at Chelsea. In both games, Rodgers' side opened the scoring but eventually came away with nothing thanks to Simon Mignolet errors.
Liverpool had gone into the festive programme at the top of the table but, after the setbacks at the Etihad Stadium and Stamford Bridge, they have slipped to fifth.
Liverpool are now11.00to win the Premier League title outright and are1.90to finish in the top four. They entertain a Hull City side that thrashed Fulham 6-0 on Saturday in their next match on New Year's Day and can be backed at8.50to edge to a 2-1 victory against the Tigers, with Luis Suarez available at3.00to open the scoring.
An upbeat Rodgers said: "I think it's open. Christmas Day eating our turkey we were top of the league. A few days and games later we're fifth. I think that's the way it will go between now and the end of the season.
"We've shown in the first 19 games this season that if we get players back, get some help in January with a few more players, we can be in the shake-up here.
"Liverpool was never in the conversation for the last few years. At least now we're being recognised in terms of what we're trying to do and our work.
"Hopefully we can add to it and get some depth to the group, because that is something that really helps you in the second part of the season."
