Arsene Wenger hailed his Arsenal side's 'strong response' in the Premier League title race, as the Gunners returned to the top of the table with a 2-1 win at Aston Villa.
First-half goals from Jack Wilshere and Olivier Giroud took the Gunners a point above Manchester City at the league summit, with Wenger delighted with the reaction from his players after they had seen all of their main rivals win over the weekend.
The Frenchman said: "We had to have a strong response, because everyone was looking at us to see if we would drop points after everyone else had won over the weekend.
"You are under a bit more pressure when you play last because you know you are not allowed to drop any points.
"The only way you can give an answer to that is to win the games and we have here."

Meanwhile, Wenger also praised the battling qualities of his side, who had to survive a late onslaught from their hosts at Villa Park after Christian Benteke pulled a goal back.
"The first half was about playing our game with the speed of our passing and controlling the game, the second half was more about fighting," Wenger added.
"Maybe we were a bit too cautious just to keep the 2-0, but it was about fighting and our defenders kept us in the game."
