Ben Stokes scored 70 runs and took four wickets as England finally returned to winning ways in the fourth one-day international against Australia in Perth.

The Durham all-rounder, who has been one of the few plus points for England on what has been a dismal tour Down Under, helped his side secure a 57-run victory.

After Australia had won the toss and asked England to bat, the tourists made an impressive 316-8 in their 50 overs, with Jos Buttler smashing 71 off only 43 balls and Ian Bell 55, while James Faulkner impressed with the ball, taking 4-67.

Despite Aaron Finch's best efforts - he hit four sixes and eight fours in his 108 - the Australian opener had little support, with Glenn Maxwell being the next highest scorer for the Baggy Greens with 26.

Stokes ended with figures of 4-39, while Tim Bresnan picked up three wickets, Stuart Broad two and Ravi Bopara one.

The victory ended a sorry sequence for England who had lost the first three one-day internationals and been beaten 5-0 in The Ashes series.

England are now3.20to win the fifth one-day international on Sunday while Australia are available at1.36to come out on top.

England captain Alastair Cook said after his side's victory: "It's been a while since we've had this feeling. It's been a frustrating tour as we've played a long way below our potential. We've seen glimpses of it but at least we've shown today that we're not that bad a side.

"We're determined now to win in Adelaide as 3-2 sounds a lot better than 4-1."
