Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted that winning the Premier League title this season might be beyond his in-form Reds side.
The Merseysiders are currently fourth in the table and are just six points adrift of leaders Chelsea after four wins and two draws in their last six games, with the Reds12.00to be crowned champions.
However, while Rodgers is determined to try and guide Liverpool to their first league title since the 1989/90 season, he accepts that that may have to wait until next season at the earliest.
"I came here to challenge for titles, so there is no limit on our ambitions," Rodgers told reporters.
"I am very much full of optimism for this football club and the development of the team, but I also have to be realistic as well and I think it's something that might be too much for us this season.
"But that doesn't stop us fighting or wanting to be the best we can be and, at some point in my time here, we will be ready."
The Reds have been in particularly potent form on home turf at Anfield recently backing up a 4-0 derby thumping of Everton with a 5-1 thrashing of Arsenal last weekend.
Strikers Luis Suarez (23) and Daniel Sturridge (15) have contributed 38 league goals between them this season, with Suarez1.04to finish the season as the league's top scorer, with Sturridge17.00.
