Italy are confident Mauro Bergamasco and Martin Castrogiovanni will be fit for the visit of Scotland on Saturday.
The pair both missed training on Monday but team manager Luigi Troiani hopes both will be available for the clash at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Flanker Bergamasco suffered a thigh injury during the 30-10 defeat to France in Paris earlier this month, while prop Castrogiovanni has a heel problem but Troiani expects both to resume training this week.
"We are approaching this week with focus and calmness," Troiani toldwww.federugby.
"We are aware that the expectations regarding our home game against Scotland are high.
"We are coming off two games in which we have displayed good things but struggled to be consistent.
"This is something we will have to improve on against Scotland.
"Regarding Castrogiovanni and Bergamasco, we are looking to have both of them back in training with the rest of the group on Thursday."
Both Italy and Scotland are seeking their first wins of the Six Nations campaign.
The Azzurri have been beaten in Wales and France, while Scotland were beaten by England at Murrayfield last time out having lost their opening fixture in Ireland.
