Edin Dzeko is struggling to shake off a cold as Manchester City attempt to turn up the Premier League title heat this week.
The Bosnian striker was ordered to stay at home and missed City's weekend 5-0 trouncing of relegation-threatened Fulham.
City take on rivals Manchester United on Tuesday in an Old Trafford derby, before making the trip to face title rivals Arsenal at the Emirates this coming Saturday evening.
Boss Manuel Pellegrini has already revealed top-scorer Sergio Aguero will miss the United showdown as he continues to recover from a hamstring strain.
The Citizens, however, will receive a further update on Dzeko's status on Monday - Stevan Jovetic is waiting in the wings should the former Wolfsburg forward fail to make the cut.
Meanwhile, City defender Martin Demichelis said ahea dof the derby showdown: "It's great for any footballer to play these type of games. It is special for the fans and it also special because we will be fighting for the title.
"United are not in their best moment and will they be trying to ruin our aspirations to be on top. I hope we can be the team that we've been throughout this season.
"I have full confidence in this squad and we know we can win there."
