Barcelona's La Liga title hopes have been hit as keeper Victor Valdes has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Valdes suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage in his knee in his side's 3-0 win over Celta Vigo on Wednesday and is set to miss the remainder of the campaign.
The 32-year-old had been expected to challenge Iker Casillas for a starting spot for Spain in this summer's World Cup but the Barca star now seems set to miss the tournament in Brazil.
"We won't sign a goalkeeper. We will finish the season with this group," Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino said.
"I am not one to believe in bad luck, but at this stage of the season I thought everything that was to happen had already occurred. I was wrong.
"It's a big blow but this team has rolled with punches for some time now and we will pull through this."
Jose Pinto replaced Valdes in the win over Celta Vigo and will deputise for the injured keeper in Barcelona's remaining fixtures.
Valdes has almost certainly now played his last game for the Catalan giants as he announced earlier in the season he would leave Camp Nou when his contract comes to an end this summer, with Manchester City and Monaco mooted as potential destinations for the shot-stopper.
Barcelona's win on Wednesday saw them overtake Real Madrid in the La Liga table and they can now be backed at1.72to secure the Spanish title.
