Manuel Pellegrini insists he will soon start planning for next season after guiding Manchester City to the 2025-14 Premier League title.

City clinched their second title in three years, and second trophy of the season following their victory against Sunderland in the Capital One Cup final, by easing to a comfortable 2-0 win against West Ham United on Sunday.

Liverpool came second after coming from behind to beat Newcastle United 2-1, but City were worthy champions after amassing a remarkable 156 goals in all competitions during the campaign.

City managed 102 goals in their 38 Premier League matches but Pellegrini is in no mood to rest on his laurels.

He said: "I think it's very important to celebrate and then on Tuesday start working for next season. We are going to do a balance of the whole year and the positive things and negative things and way we can improve our squad.

"It has been a beautiful season but you always need to continue winning and improving, and we are going to start working as soon as possible to be the strongest team next year."

Meanwhile, former Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri hopes City bring in one or two more players before the start of next season.

Nasri, who opened the scoring against the Hammers, believes successful teams should always try to add even more quality and depth to their squads.

He said: "If we keep the same squad and add one or two good players, I don't see why we can't repeat this kind of thing.

"I have been here three years and won four trophies. Every year since I came we have finished first or second, so over those three years we have been the best team in England - no doubt about it. It is important that next year we confirm that."
