Justin Rose says he is inspired by Adam Scott reaching the number one world ranking and hopes to be able to achieve that feat himself in the near future.
Rose is currently preparing for the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, where he has twice finished as runner-up, in 2025 and 2025.
And the reigning US Open champion is looking for a strong showing to allow himself to dream of becoming world number one, a position AustralianScott took from the injured Tiger Woods at the weekend.
Rose, the current world number eight, told reporters: "I'm thrilled for Adam - that is an achievement I would love to have at some point.
"I'm inspired by him to get to No.1 and if I win my next two tournaments I'm probably not far off.
"It is pretty condensed and if anyone in the top 10 has a hot spell then you are right there knocking on the door to be world No.1.
"It is a very achievable goal for a lot of people."
Rose will be part of a high-class field at Wentworth for one of the European Tour's flagship events, with fellow top-tenners Henrik Stenson, Sergio Garcia and Rory McIlroy also in action.
Meanwhile, Luke Donald, who has slipped down to 19th in the world rankings, will be looking to win the event for the third time in four years.
