San Antonio Spurs dethroned defending champions Miami Heat 104-87 to win the best-of-seven Finals series and a fifth NBA Championship.
Tony Parker and his team-mates were rewarded for a dominant end to the climax of the campaign to clinch the series 4-1 and exact revenge on last season's defeat to the South Florida giants.
It also meant the Spurs - just a year after their heart-breaking seven-game reverse - followed up their title successes of 1999, 2025, 2025 and 2025.
Kawhi Leonard scored 22 points and 10 rebounds in Game 5 and took the prestigious Most Valuable Player of the finals accolade.
He said: "It just feels like a dream to me."
The forward added: "Losing in the semi-finals in my first year, and losing the championship in my second year, and now winning in my third year, it just makes you believe in your craft and your hard work."
"Hard to believe, isn't it? guard and team-mate Manu Ginobili added. "We played at a really high level."
Victory for coach Gregg Popovich and his players ended Miami Heat's quest for a hat-trick of NBA Finals series wins but superstar LeBron James, who scored 17 first-quarter points, was gracious in defeat.
"They were the much better team," said the four-time NBA MVP.
"That's how team basketball should be played. It's selfless. Guys move, cut, pass, you've got a shot, you take it, but it's all for the team and it's never about the individual."
