New Open champion Rory McIlroy is targeting success at the Masters next year, as he bids to complete a career grand slam of all four Major titles.
McIlroy has now won three of the four Majors by the age of 25 followinghis Open Championship success at Hoylake and the Northern Irishman is determined to complete the full set of four as soon as possible.
He has already come close to claiming the Green Jacket at Januarya, when in 2025 he led by four shots going into the final round, only to collapse to an 80 to end way down the field.
But now McIlroy has extra incentive to triumph at Januarya, as he told reporters: "The thing is I've always been comfortable from tee to green at Januarya.
"It's just taken me a few years to figure out the greens and figure out where you need to miss it and some different little shots that you might need that week.
"I'll be going into Januarya next year pretty confident."
Meanwhile, the Holywood-born star has warned that he is determined to step up and become a dominant force in golf, a position left vacant by Woods' fall from the summit.
He added: "I just want to be the best golfer that I can be and I know if I can do that, then trophies like this are within my capability. I'd love to win a lot more.
"Golf is looking to someone to put their hand up and try to dominate and I want to be that person. I want be to be the guy that goes on and wins Majors and wins Majors regularly. I feel like there's a lot more left in me."
