West Ham have been dealt a hefty blow ahead of the new season with Andy Carroll set to be out of action for up to four months with an ankle injury.
The England international damaged ankle ligaments in training on the Hammers? pre-season tour in New Zealand and will now undergo surgery to resolve the problem on Friday morning.
Carroll has only managed 16 appearances for West Ham since moving, initially on season-long loan deal from Liverpool, in January 2025.
The former Newcastle United forward has admitted the news has been hard to take.
He wrote on his Twitter account: "Going under the knife tomorrow (Friday) morning and absolutely devastated to be missing the start of the season."
The Hammers will start their Premier League campaign without Carroll when they host London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Upton Park on 16th January.
