Arsenal will be without striker Olivier Giroud for their Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund, despite the France international being fit for the game.
Having sustained a leg fracture against Everton earlier this season, Giroud was not expected to return for the group stage of European competition and was left out of the Gunners' squad as a result.
However, Giroud made a goalscoring return in the 2-1 weekend defeat to Manchester United, only to now be forced to sit out the meeting with Dortmund at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.
A win or a draw would be enough to carry Arsenal through to the knockout stages alongside Dortmund, who have won four out of four in Europe, putting aside their recent domestic struggles.
Jurgen Klopp's men have won just once in their last nine Bundesliga games and are currently down in 16th place in the table, occupying the relegation play-off spot.
But central defender Neven Subotic says he and his team-mates have not lost faith in the approach of Klopp and his coaching staff, telling reporters: "We've always had the same plan and we have good players and we have a great coach and great fans.
"We couldn't really explain what was going on, so we knew we had to stick to our plan, because eventually we knew it would work out. We know and we believe in the system.
"We know what we need to work on is staying focused and putting the plan that we have on to the pitch."
