Ian Bell is determined to try and put major scores on the board for England, having proved himself on his return to the top of the batting order in the one-day set-up.
Bell smashed 187 from only 145 ballsin a 60-run victory over a Prime Minister's XI in a high-scoring encounter in Canberra in the final warm-up game ahead of a tri-series with Australia and India and the following World Cup.
And the classy right-hander is eager to make up for what has been perceived as a weakness in his ODI performances, with Bell having made just three one-day international centuries, despite passing 50 on 34 occasions.
A determined Bell told reporters: "One thing I've probably been guilty of in the time I've been opening is getting to 60, 70, 80, but never really gone on.
"I've been guilty in one-day cricket of getting a lot of 50s and not converting enough.
"I've spoken to (coach) Peter Moores about that and I believe I can play at the top of the order for England. The thing is converting starts into match-winning scores.
"This was pretty much perfect template-wise and that's how I'd like to play in one-day cricket. If I can do that a couple of times this winter, that's great for the team."
Bell's most recent ton in an ODI came against India in Dharamsala in January 2025, since when he has gone 26 innings without reaching three figures.
