Queens Park Rangers have handed Chris Ramsey the job of trying to help the club challenge for a quickfire return to the Premier League.
Ramsey took over as interim head coach in February following the departure of Harry Redknapp and, despite not being able to mastermind an escape from the drop, the 53-year-old has now been handed a permanent three-year deal at Loftus Road.
And director of football Les Ferdinand is confident that former Brighton defender Ramsey is the right man for what promises to be a tough job with the Hoops.
He told the club's official website: "He is the ideal candidate for the role in terms of our new philosophy of nurturing young talent and promoting from within.
"Rebuilding the club is our first target. If we can make an immediate return to the Premier League, then great, but we have to focus on re-establishing the traditions of QPR.
"That will take time, but in Chris we have a man who is relishing the challenge that lies ahead."
Ramsey has overseen just three wins in 14 games since taking up the reins at Loftus Road, with Rangers completing an unhappy campaign with a trip to Leicester City on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Ramsey is relishing the chance to help shape the future of the club, adding: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me and one I am tremendously excited about.
"Despite the way the season panned out, I'm looking forward to the challenge of helping rebuild this club over the coming years."
