Jurgen Klopp is hoping to end Manchester United head coach Louis van Gaal's 100 per cent record against Liverpool on Thursday.
Van Gaal has won four out of four against the Merseysiders since his arrival at Old Trafford at the start of last season and Klopp is eager to end that run of success when the two sides meet in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie at Anfield.
The German told reporters: "I was here for only one of these games.
"We lost and maybe we didn't play our absolute best, but we played good enough to win the game, but in the end it was one moment what decided the game.
"I don't think this is the only thing I need to know. We are not too far away from Manchester United - they have won the last four but that means nothing.
"It would mean more if they were much better and had much more quality, but it is pretty close. I would say we are both in a good moment."
Klopp has to make at least one change to the side who won 2-1 at Crystal Palace at the weekend, with full-back Jon Flanagan not included in the Europa League squad, meaning Nathaniel Clyne is set to earn a recall.
The Reds boss is also expected to hand a start to England striker Daniel Sturridge in place of Divock Origi, with the former having started both legs of the last-32 tie against Augsburg, which Liverpool edged 1-0 on aggregate.
