Nathaniel Clyne believes Liverpool need to keep a clean sheet on Thursday against Manchester United if they are to reach the Europa League quarter-finals.
Liverpool have lost both their Premier League matches against United this season - 3-1 at Old Trafford and 1-0 at Anfield - but Clyne thinks Jurgen Klopp's side now have the quality needed to get the better of Thursday's visitors to Merseyside.
Liverpool edged to a 2-1 win at Crystal Palace on Sunday while United suffered a 1-0 loss at West Brom and Clyne believes Klopp's side are hitting form at just the right time.
The former Southampton star said: "We need to take it to them, especially in the first leg when we're at home.
"We need to try to get some goals but also keep a clean sheet, which is the most important thing. We don't want them to get an away goal.
"I think we owe them from the Premier League games, which we probably should have got more out of. But we have time now to put things right and make sure we progress through the cup. Hopefully we can get the goals and get a good result going into the second leg as it'll help us push through to the next round."
